Training and Career Development
The UKHA is committed to promoting the role of housekeeping through training and career development. We launched our Housekeeping Scholarship in 2026 and support our membership with advertising housekeeping job vacancies.
The UKHA Scholarship
This training initiative was launched in March 2026, with 19 housekeepers attending a 3-day residential course "Leadership for Housekeeping Managers", supported by eight associate sponsors. Here we review the course and follow our delegates as they develop their careers.

Housekeeping Vacancies
We are committed to careers development and post job vacancies on our website and social media to support housekeepers into new and exciting roles throughout the UK.
If you have a housekeeping vacancy please send the details to marketing@ukha.co.uk and we will add your job post.

Our delegates took to social media shortly after the course and shared their thoughts on the course, trainer and organisers. It was totally energising to hear how the learning, insights and shared experience with the other housekeepers inspired everyone that took part.

Nearly 50 housekeepers applied for a place on the "Leadership for Housekeeping Managers" course and the calibre of applicants was incredibly high. A panel of judges, including the UKHA regional chairs carefully selected a total of 19 candidates for a place on the 3-day residential course at The Grand York in March 2026.

Eight of our UKHA Associate members came forward to sponsor our delegates and are committed to taking an active role in continuous professional development of the housekeepers that attend this course, and our entire UKHA membership for the whole year. We welcomed our sponsors to the dinner on Tuesday 3rd March, together with Sean Wheeler our regular facilitator and some of our regional chairs, it was an amazing evening.

Lisa Williams and Lesley Skelt attended each day to observe and contribute to the course content, supporting Liz Lycette in her training programme. This is their diary of the 3 days in York.

Investing in the Future of Housekeeping Leadership. Professional development has always been at the heart of hospitality, and this year’s Housekeeping Scholarship Programme has proven just how powerful investing in people can be. Organised by the National Chair, Lisa Williams, together with the National Treasurer, Lesley Skelt the scholarship brought together talented housekeeping professionals from across the industry for an intensive learning experience designed to strengthen leadership, innovation, and operational excellence within hotel housekeeping.
