Manchester & North West
The region was originally founded by a committee including Jan Flynn in 1989 and was successfully relaunched in February 2010. The Manchester and North West meetings are a great way for all Housekeepers in the area to get to know each other, share best practice and exchange information and ideas. Our main goals are to improve the professional standing of housekeepers, promote housekeeping as a career and re-introduce housekeeping training programmes to colleagues.
Meetings are held bi-monthly in different hotels across Manchester, and surrounding areas, where guest speakers from different sectors talk about topics relevant to housekeeping and the hospitality sector. There are also opportunities to attend social events throughout the year.

I am an experienced hospitality professional with over 20 years of experience in housekeeping leadership across luxury hotels, branded properties and multi-site hospitality operations.
Throughout my career, I have built a strong reputation for improving standards, developing people and creating successful housekeeping teams. My experience includes luxury hotel operations, quality standards, compliance, hotel openings and supporting teams through periods of change and improvement.
I am currently the Executive Head Housekeeper at The Coniston Hotel Country Estate & Spa.
I believe that great housekeeping starts with great people. I am passionate about supporting teams, sharing knowledge and recognising the important role housekeeping professionals play in the success of hospitality.
As Chair of the Manchester & North West Region for the UK Housekeepers Association, I look forward to bringing people together, creating opportunities to learn and connect, and supporting the continued development of housekeeping professionals across the region.

On a hot July day, Manchester & NW held their July meeting in the relative coolness of Maldron Hotel, Charles Street.

Jan Flynn and the Manchester committee and UKHA members met on Tuesday 16th September at The Britannia Hotel, Portland Street, Manchester for an Autumn meeting.
Jan Flynn and the Manchester Committee would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Jean Roberts, as she stands down from the committee after many years. Jean will remain an active member of UKHA Manchester and is looking forward to relaxing and enjoying UKHA events rather than organising them!
On Friday 27th June we gathered at the Buxton Palace Hotel to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the UKHA, organised and hosted by our Manchester & NW regional committee, headed by Jan Flynn.
UKHA Manchester & NW member met on Tuesday 22nd April at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly.
What a fantastic meeting at the VOCO hotel in Manchester on the 13th February! Well attended by both Housekeepers and Associate Members. New faces too who all said they were going to be regular attendees, and join.
On 15th November 2024 UKHA Manchester & NW committee and members met at the Lowry Hotel for a Christmas Wreath making workshop. Our Guest Speaker was Rachael Shah from Vision Linens.
