Inside Housekeeping July 2026: Jackie Hehir

In the January 2026 issue of Hotel Magazine, Head of Housekeeping at The Army and Navy Club, Jacqueline Hehir shares how empathy, adaptability and smart technology are reshaping one of hospitality’s most essential departments.

Jackie's hospitality journey began in entry-level housekeeping roles within some of London’s top five-star hotels, learning the operation from the ground up, progressing into supervisory and management positions, gaining experience in team leadership, scheduling, stock control, budgeting and guest relations.

One thing she learnt early on was the importance of leading by example. Housekeeping can be both physically demanding and fast-paced, and teams respond best to managers who understand the realities of the role and are willing to support them during busy periods.

"Working in hospitality has always appealed to me because no two days are ever the same. I currently work as Head of Housekeeping at a private members’ club, where I oversee the housekeeping operation, support and manage the team, and ensure members consistently experience the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort. It is a role that combines organisation, leadership, attention to detail, and people management — all aspects I genuinely enjoy at The Army & Navy Club.
