Manchester & NW April 2025 Meeting Review

UKHA Manchester & NW member met on Tuesday 22nd April at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly.
Meeting Review
An amazing meeting at a new venue for the UKHA, the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly. The meeting was well attended with quite a few new members.
Our Speaker
Kay Preston from Innuscience – named after the indigenous tribe, the Inuits, from Canada gave us all an interesting talk concerning their range of bio chemicals, which are much kinder to use. Both for the environment and ourselves. She gave us an insight as to how the company was founded and how the chemicals are made. Prizes given for the smart people who listened to the talk and got the quiz answers correct!
Anyone interested in a demonstration please contact Kay directly.
Our Sponsors and Raffle
A very successful raffle was drawn with some amazing prizes donated. Kay also very kindly sponsored the wine for the meeting. Thank you very much Innuscience. South African wines, enjoyed very much with our sandwiches.
L’Occitaine very kindly donated a small toiletries goody bag to all attendees. Thank you to Jelena, through Judit.
London & SE 40th Anniversary Event
Jan, Nan and Jean (amongst others) all attended the UKHA 40th cocktail party at The Grosvenor House Hotel London earlier in April so a brief description of the event were given. The start of our 40th celebration year. It was amazing to see so many “old” faces at the event and catch up with friends and acquaintances from long ago. The review and photos are now available on our website for those interested in this > CLICK HERE TO VIEW >>
Lisa Williams our new UKHA National Chair
Everyone who attended our meeting were introduced to Lisa Williams, our new National Chair, from The Grand Hotel, York. Kerry Adams has stepped down after 3 successful years as National Chair to concentrate on family matters. Thanks for all your hard work Kerry. Lisa has taken up the baton and will continue the good work. We need to continue to encourage new people to join not only our industry but our chosen profession. We are all here to help train and develop new housekeepers entering our industry and to assist with sponsorship and education needs to pass on our hard earned knowledge. You have a question – ask away. There is no such thing as a stupid question! There will be those amongst us who have had to deal with a similar situation somewhere in their career.
The Manchester & NW 40th Anniversary Ball
We discussed the upcoming 40th Anniversary Ball, which will be the next time we meet up! Friday 27th June 2025 at The Palace Hotel , Buxton. Tickets are still available, but selling well! We still have availability for accommodation at the hotel, but book quickly so that you do not miss out, payment is not required for rooms until the check in day. We have some amazing raffle prizes already donated, but always room for more. MORE DETAILS & BOOK >>
Unfortunately we do not have any photos of this meeting as our resident “David Bailey” aka Nigel Hallisey was away sunning himself in Thailand. He had a fabulous time by the way – pictures prove this.
See you in Buxton – posh frocks at the ready!
