Meeting Review: Manchester & NW October

Manchester UKHA committee and members met in October at 47 Manchester for a fabulous show round and networking meeting.

    Manchester & NW Meeting Review

We had a fabulous meeting on Wednesday 2nd October. We were hosted by Alicia the Head Housekeeper at 47, one of Manchester’s newest boutique hotels. Judit the Group Housekeeper was unable to be with us, due to having to attend the IHG visit at their Preston property.  This is being re branded as a Garner Hotel, the first in the UK!

47 is housed in a grade 2 listed building on the corner of Southmill Street and Peter Street.  It has been converted from a warehouse and is also home to the amazing Ashas Indian Restaurant.  We were well and truly spoilt on the evening, we started with reception drinks, prosecco, beer, soft drinks etc.

The hotel staff then conducted us around to view the rooms. Everyone who attended was so impressed with the décor etc.  So luxurious!  L’Occitaine Vervaine toiletries everywhere. Whilst having the show round we were  given various pieces of information on the history of the building.

We returned to The Peterman Bar (do you know what a Peterman is/was? – a Safe Cracker!) where we were treated to some delicious samples of the food that Ashas produce. Big thanks to the chef – he never fails to produce delicious food.  Also now we got to sample the signature cocktails that the Peterman is famous for!  ????  Again we are informed, by Ryan the Cocktail Barman, of the history of the cocktails and how they are named after some infamous Manchester characters – safe crackers, burglars etc.

Big thank yous to everyone who made our visit so special, Ryan GM for allowing us to hold our meeting in your beautiful property, Gabor the GM from Velvet who stepped in to ensure all went well on our visit, all the staff who looked after us so well, the service is impeccable.  Big thank you to all who attended and contributed to the raffle.  We had some fantastic prizes.

Alicia is unfortunately leaving us to return to her country – Ukraine.  We wish her well and she will be missed.  This does however, create a vacancy for a hands on Head Housekeeper at 47, if anyone is interested?
