Manchester Meeting Review: May 2024

A fantastic, well attended meeting was held on Tuesday 28th May at Delta by Marriott at Worsley Park. A big thank you to Lynn Gough and the hotel for sponsoring the meeting and providing us with sustenance, which was much appreciated.
Meeting Review
The meeting commenced with Adrian Ellis GM at The Lowry Hotel and Chairman of MHA, giving us a brief overview of his career in hospitality, with some amusing tales from his time at various hotels! Adrian has been a huge supporter of the UKHA throughout his time in Manchester (and beyond), with the MHA sponsoring its Housekeepers to attend the meetings. So much so that we were pleased to make him an honourary member of the Association. Adrian was delighted to accept. Adrian will be retiring from The Lowry shortly, but not to fear, he will still be involved with special projects at the hotel, and will be continuing his work to encourage school children and older students to consider hospitality as a career.
We then welcomed David Lightfoot, from Tork UK. He gave us a very enlightening presentation on their initiative – Paper Circle. This is a system where you can recycle your paper towels back to their Mill in Ramsbottom, for this area, where the waste is recycled back into other paper products. This will help with everyone’s sustainability and carbon footprint. Tork supply a wheelie bin to keep the hand towels separate. A slide was provided with the projected savings for the year at The Bridgewater Hall Manchester. A big thank you to David / Tork for the goodies provided for all attendees. Their hand cream is amazing. Anyone interested in Paper Circle can contact David for more information > David.LIGHTFOOT@essity.com
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the UKHA Summer Ball in Dunblane in June. A few tickets are still available and bookings close 17th June. BOOK NOW >>
