Our Speaker

We commenced the meeting with Adrian welcoming us to The Lowry Hotel. He then went on to give us all an insight into the work he, and the Manchester Hoteliers Association are carrying out, in relation to encourage people to enter the Hospitality Industry. Adrian and his members have built up relationships with local colleges, universities and schools to try to introduce and encourage the students to consider hospitality as a career. Hopefully opening peoples’ eyes to the possibility of developing a career within our industry.  He also praised the UKHA for having such a strong following. He works with Sales and Marketing and Front Office Associations and we are by far the strongest within the Manchester area. He is also trying to found a Food & Beverage Association, but to date has not found anyone who is interested in running this. Julie and her assistants then gave us a quick show round of the hotel (fully booked, so we had to be quick).
 
Thank yous

Our guest speaker was Emma from Arran, Sense of Scotland (formerly Arran Aromatics) who very kindly gave a presentation on their Sustainability Programme and how it impacts with their use of recycled plastics, changing containers etc. Reducing waste dramatically, very informative. Emma also kindly gifted every attendee with a lovely wellbeing spray. Very useful and all were well received. 
 
We would also like to thank Bunzl Rafferty who donated small boxes of yummy chocolates to everyone. 
 
UKHA Events

Housekeeping notes were given with regards to the recent Business Lunch which was attended in September, held at the Pan Pacific Hotel in London. Congratulations to Fernanda and the London Committee on a job well done, with over 300 attended the lunch. Lots of catching up and networking taking place, as this is the first lunch for 4 years. Looking forward to the next one!

Next Manchester Meeting

Our next meeting is to be held on 30th November 2023 at the Airport Hotel Northenden, transport will be provided from the City Centre.  The start time will be slightly later, to allow everyone to travel there.  Bring your leggings or joggers!!! A Personal Trainer session will take place.  To assist with our Health and Wellbeing! Or you can sit and watch!  Entirely up to you ????
 
Thanks were given to Emma for her interesting presentation and gift, plus to Adrian and Julie for kindly hosting the event.  Everyone then enjoyed the scrumptious buffet and drinks provided by the hotel, and all went home replete.
