Yorkshire September Meeting 2018
The September Yorkshire and North East meeting was hosted at the Principal Hotel (previously known as the Royal Station Hotel) in the Panelled Oak room overlooking the beautiful gardens and in the distance the York Minster.
On arrival we were greeted with refreshments and hand made UKHA shortbread biscuits as shown in the photo.
This was followed by a tour of the recently refurbished hotel, bedrooms and Suites with a brief history of the hotel given by Mark the Operations director including an explanation of the royal connection of when Queen Victoria used to stop off at the hotel for refreshments on her train travels from London to Balmoral. (Photo's of hotel stairs, suite etc)
The buffet was very generously sponsored by Tracy Harrison the General Manager who is an ex housekeeper and previously featured in Housekeeping today magazine. The food as can be seen from the photo's was delicious with a great selection of both savoury items and mouth watering deserts.
This was followed by our Guest speaker Jo Thompson who gave us an interesting insight into CRAMS ,a real time health and safety risk assessment tool with integrated competency training that can play a vital part in the recruitment and retention of staff, and reduce risks as standards are translated into 56 languages. Jo offered any members a no obligation online demo.
Keith Porter and Mitre were thanked for their sponsorship of the wine, and the Principal Hotel Executive Housekeeper Caroline Bradshaw for the goodie boxes she especially put together for all the attendees.
The members were also thanked for the generous raffle prizes and for their continued support to the newly elected/re-elected committee.
