Yorkshire & NE May Review 2018
What a wonderful evening, jam packed with information, tours, delicious food and fun!
We were welcomed by the General Manager, Joseph; Head Housekeeper Julie and the team at Holdsworth House hotel. The G.M said what a pleasure it was to host the UKHA meeting. The evening kicked off with a guided tour's of the gardens, function rooms and a peek at the UK's smallest licensed wedding venue. The tours were carried out by a very knowledgeable team, we discovered that the hotel was used during filming for the BBC One Drama 'Last Tango in Halifax' and was originally turned into a Hotel (from a family property) after The Beatles stayed. Unfortunately, the weather changed our plans for a BBQ, however the buffet was absolutely amazing.
Our main speaker was the Award winning chocolatier David Greenwood-Haigh F IH from Couer de Xocolat. David gave us a short walk through chocolate’s interesting and rich history, he talked about the Aztecs and their golden goblets. We got to experience and examine real cocoa pods, cocoa butter and beans. David then took us on a sensory journey, where we looked, touched, listened (yes, listened) smelt and finally tasted some of the worlds finest chocolate. David also explained that he runs chocolate-based team building events for companies and hotel chains.
The meeting was sponsored by Jo Thompson from Spectrum. Jo is currently working on a H&S project, a real-time cloud based application package called CRAMS. For further details please click here.
