AnnouncementsUK Housekeepers Association Member honoured internationally[Monday 01 December 2008] The UK Housekeepers Association (UKHA) are proud that Scottish Regional member and former National Chair of the UKHA was awarded this years Honorary Member of the International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA). The award was made by Marvin Ellsworth, President of the IEHA at this years IEHA convention in Las Vegas at a special evening. Sheila Perera, General Manager of the Glenmore Estate at Gleneagles, Scotland was National Chair of the UKHA from 1995 to 2001 and instigated the link between the two associations across the Atlantic in the late 1990’s. Current Chairman of the UKHA, Ian Hughes, who was also in Vegas for convention said, “it was great to see a member of the UKHA being honoured in this by our friends and colleagues in the States. I took over from Sheila in 2001 and was pleased to have been there to see the presentation, which is the top award of the IEHA. Sheila was instrumental in the links that were created between our two associations, links which I am pleased to continue today and will grow and strengthen in the years to come. Housekeepers are vital for any organisation their personnel, financial, cleaning and managerial skills are constantly used to provide a guest experience that reflects the property and honours like this give credit to an often unseen person”. |
